ETHIOPIAN MONKEY BUSINESS
A study published this week in the journal Primates has reported a new phenomenon of monkey behaviour in Ethiopia.
The herbivorous Gelada monkeys were filmed feasting on a swarm of locusts in the Ethiopian highlands in June last year. Scientists are concerned that the pesticides used to control the locusts will affect the health of the monkeys, prompting them to publish an investigative report.
According to the BBC, the locusts travelled 3500m from sea level to the high grassy plains via air currents allowing the unprecedented biological event to occur.
